The man had been loaded with the heaviest burden of all and was banished to the land of living, from the land of immortality. He would taste pain at the doors which wouldn’t give passage without consent. And he’d be kneaded with pain to become people. A moment came and he renounced his most valuable asset. Human knew renunciation. He could give up his life. He could renounce someone who is close to him as much as his own life. Sacrifices in Cultures tells the story of sacrifice rituel which settled in the man’s subconscious since thousands of years.

All through the history of cultures either in monotheism or in polytheistic faith systems, the rituel of sacrifice is seen as the symbol of individual or social purification as an effort to come closer to divinity and renunciation of everything for the sake of achieving this goal. Every aspect of self denial for this union is symbolized by blood. Sacrifices are offered in order to transform negative to positive for gratitude and for fulfilling vows. Blood was the symbol to manifest the devotion to divinity. For begging, for pardon, for the first harvest, sacrifices are offered. For the deceased and for festivities, always the blood is shed.

God, sacrifice, blood and a culture built on this formulate the bodies’ and spirits’ discriminitive and also unitive venture. The “blood” which gives the soul is the life itself. And the Earthling who’ll give life to the land which he got life from would come face to face with death in every sacrifice rituel. Sacrifice in Cultures explores the door which the human pass through on his way to knowledge.
